The uniqueness in the art of fuoricatalogo galleries and the elegance in the photography of Mauro Vitale come together for an artistic proposal that delves into the concept of universality of art in time and space. Sharing art with the local and global community in a historic place, a building monster of the late 70s halfway between brutalism and post-industrial, largely already demolished, gutted but now conceived, in its last hours of life, as a museum that is always open, visible even without entering; a place where you can admire art as you observe an outdoor construction site that suddenly reveals traces of a distant past, enough to immediately stop the work.
We are in Spoltore and the building is the mammoth.
Critical of a consumerist society in which breaking down, throwing away, eliminating is much easier than reusing, reconverting, restoring and where the artistic and cultural meaning of a piece of history to be passed down is often not even contemplated, the organizers wanted to highlight these serious shortcomings cultural and also restore dignity to the blameless structure, linking the last memory of the mammoth to art and beauty, after having been a sign of degradation, uselessness and inefficiency for decades.
The performance is interesting: proposing and photographing works of art among the rubble of a gutted building, fixing them in that space over time, almost as if to signify that art can and must be everywhere, that one can be reborn from art, beauty can save, from there you can start again, start again. But also an elegant way to bring a beautiful village in Abruzzo, Spoltore, its culture and its history, around the world, through social networks and the internet.
The idea was born from the love for art of Mariagrazia Controguerra and Francesco Buzzetti, owners of fuoricatalogo galleries (fuoricatalogoartem.it – via de’ calderai, 3 Spoltore) and of Mauro Vitale, internationally renowned photography artist (maurovitale.com – fuoricatalogoartem.it).
The realization of the event was also possible thanks to the commitment and responsibility of the Deputy Mayor of Spoltore Rino Di Girolamo, committed to organizing the logistical details of the event in a very short time and ensuring its safety.
