The alternative communication (Outside the network of the network) – (June 28 – September 28, 2025)

Over the summer, our gallery hosted the exhibition The alternative communication (Outside the network of the network), which opened on Saturday, June 28, and closed on Sunday, September 28.

In a meticulously linked and hyper-connected society—where reality only seems to become real once shared through the digital storefront of the web—language and the resulting communication are changing through time and space at a speed unthinkable just a few years ago. Under an illusion of objectivity, this shift forces us to conform to dominant models. We do not align ourselves with this rigid way of managing individuals, nor with the exclusive communication methods it produces. Instead, we believe the real interest lies in seeking out, studying, and offering alternative solutions that deserve just as much consideration as the mainstream model.

We believe that Art has the power to neutralize the tools of communication, making them universally understood and capable of offering valid alternatives—not just to the dominant model, but to the very concept of a “model” itself. Art is communication because artwork is a political and social act; it carries the meditative depth of a philosophical treatise. It is a legacy left to future generations, allowing them to decipher our world. Furthermore, we believe that the concept of the “other” or the “alternative” must be a cornerstone of society—hence our title, The Alternative Communication. With the subtitle, (Outside the Network of the Network), we want to highlight the risks of a system conditioned by the web and by extreme technologies that operate without universal oversight across all levels of communication.

The art we showcased during this long summer exhibition falls into the category known as Outsider Art: a world on the margins of the formulas, categories, and artistic movements dictated solely by the market. Outsider Art is instinctive abstraction, in both an artistic and behavioral sense. It represents absolute freedom of expression and communication, an alternative viewpoint, complete reflection, and a primal vision. It is a seeming regression that actually conceals an advanced evolutionary state; a form of cultural excitement, of a culture kept pure by the absence of conceptualized culture. This is because this Art offers thoughts, perspectives, and lines of communication that are neither conditioned nor mediated by the superstructures that society today unconsciously absorbs.

The “outsider” world captures aspects that imposed “normality” fails to see. It teaches us the full scope of a situation, a social fact, or an emotion. By shattering the dominant model, it helps develop critical thinking—an indispensable tool today in a society increasingly programmed exclusively for production and consumption.
