Wooden pinnacle, 17th/18th century
€600.00
Turned and lacquered wooden pinnacle. Ecclesiastical context, Emilia region, 17th/18th century. 37 cm (14.57 in) h x 16 cm (6.3 in) max diameter.
Originally one of five identical elements crowning the four corners and central section of a pulpit or confessional, crafted in a rural artistic environment. Decorative pinnacles were typical of Baroque and Rococo periods, introducing sinuous forms and lacquer finishes to contrast the rigid lines of Renaissance architecture.
