Pair of primitive rustic chairs

Pair of self‑made fir‑wood chairs from the mountainous areas of the Central Apennines, early 20th century. Used in small rural homes near the fireplace for warmth and during meal preparation. Traces of original and later polychromy reveal construction methods using wooden joints and rudimentary nails. Original patina. Seat height: 44.5 cm (17.52 in); total height: 76 cm (29.92 in); width: 40 cm (15.75 in).

The aesthetic recalls 1960s French Aranjou models, between primitive and brutalist design.
