Likely from a Medici residence in Florence and intended for a high\u2011ranking family member. Second half of the 19th century. Height: 116 cm (45.67 in).<\/p>\n<p>The Medici family of Florence maintained strong territorial and feudal ties with the Piccolomini family, present in Abruzzo since the 15th century. Evidence includes the transfer of key Abruzzese towns and castles from the Piccolomini to the Medici in the 16th century\u2014Capestrano; the Barony of Carapelle, purchased to control the production of carfagna wool essential to Florentine textile industries; and Santo Stefano di Sessanio, which became a strategic hub for transhumance and trade toward Florence. Architectural traces in these villages reveal stylistic and structural affinities between the two families.
